Sesame Beef Lo Mein from Blue Apron is amazing! Who doesn’t love ordering Chinese take out? It’s one of our favorite things to get and eat at home but let’s face it, it’s probably not that healthy. We tried a Blue Apron recipe last night that we are pretty sure will replace our typical ordering pattern. AND the best part is we had fun making it! There were a few spices we omitted and a few we added to give this a truly unique flavor that is different from Blue Apron. Since starting with Blue Apron we have experienced so many different dishes and are just loving it! If you think you want to try it, click here to get your first 3 meals for free!
Not just Beef Lo Mein
Once you have the seasonings down, you can create any Lo Mein you desire – from beef to poultry, even vegetarian. And if you really want to recreate the Chinese takeout experience, stop by a local Asian market and pick up some fortune cookies – or order them online. After all, part of the fun of getting takeout is reading the fortunes and you don’t want to miss out on that!
Another fun idea, if you really want to recreate the takeout experience, with a healthier twist, is to buy some takeout style containers from Amazon and serve this Lo Mein dish in them. Add in some prepackaged chopsticks and you’ve got everything you need to create homemade Chinese takeout. Yum!
Keep in mind, you can add or change any of the suggested vegetables, too. The ones suggested in the recipe are traditional to Asian cuisine, but if you’d rather use something else because you know it will be better received by your family, go for it! Broccoli instead of Bok Choy is often a popular substitute. And if you can’t find Shishito peppers, bell peppers or banana peppers will work just fine.
