Your body recognizes coconut oil for what it is: REAL!  Everyone should be using coconut oil daily — in your body, on your body, for your body. Below are several ways to use coconut oil for a healthier you.benefits of coconut oil

Benefits of Coconut Oil

Cooking.

I use it when I stir fry foods.  Most oils can become toxic when heated.  Coconut oil has more stability at higher temps.  It’s even safer than olive oil! It’s also less likely to smoke or burn. I have a friend who’s famous for setting off the smoke alarm every time she so much as looks at the stove! When she switched to coconut oil for cooking, the smoke alarm finally stopped going off on a regular basis.

Deep Condition Hair.

Once a week or so I use it as a deep conditioner for my hair.  My hair is curly and F R I Z Z Y! The extra conditioning from coconut oil helps tame my crazy, mop-like mess. Here’s how: Heat a couple teaspoons of coconut oil and rub into your hair, cover with a cap for 40-60 minutes, and rinse.  It makes hair glossy.  Personally, it helps control my frizz as well. My hair feels soft and less itchy when others come into contact with it.  Scientifically, hair may not have enough lauric acid and coconut oil replaces it.  I am not a scientist, but this is what I’ve read and I do like how it works.

Moisturizer.

Coconut oil is wonderful as a moisturizer – face, hands, feet.  And you smell like you’ve been to a tropical island!  You may want to add a drop or two of essential oil to create your own scented moisturizer. Unlike moisturizing lotions you buy in the store, pure coconut oil isn’t full of petroleum products or unnecessary water. It may take a few moments to full absorb into your skin, but once it does, the moisturizing effects also last longer. I used coconut oil on a dry patch of skin for two days and cleared the patch.  Give it a try and let me know what you think

Makeup Remover.

I’m not much by way of wearing makeup, but putting coconut oil on a cotton ball will remove eye makeup painlessly.  No scrubbing! And you’ll be giving yourself a nice moisture boost around your eyes, preventing crows feet and other wrinkles.

Sunburn Relief.

Some benefits of coconut oil can even relieve pain! Sunburns can be super painful. Many people reach for the aloe vera to help relief the pain and itching. Coconut oil might be even better! It does more than relieve the pain, it actually helps cure the burn. For sunburns add a little apple cider vinegar to your coconut oil.  Apply to burn.  In a short time, the burning is gone.

Natural Deodorant.

Most store-bought deodorant contains aluminum. Aluminum use has been linked to Alzheimer’s and other long-term illnesses. Using a natural deodorant will keep you fresh and dry while protecting your long-term health. Shea butter, baking soda, and coconut oil make a natural deodorant.  Who knew?!  Combine and apply.  It’s that easy.

Weight Loss.
