Ingredients for Turkey Fried Rice

This dish comes together with a handful of pantry staples and fresh ingredients. Cooked rice serves as the base, while peas, corn, and onions add texture and sweetness. Soy sauce provides a savory, umami-rich finish, bringing all the ingredients together. Using turkey breast makes this dish lean and satisfying, and the scrambled egg adds richness and protein.

How to Make Turkey Fried Rice

This meal comes together quickly, making it ideal for busy nights. Start by sautéing onions and garlic in butter until fragrant, then brown the turkey pieces in the same pan. The turkey doesn’t need to cook through at this stage, as it will finish cooking later.

Once the turkey is set aside, add cooked rice to the pan and stir-fry briefly before pushing it to one side. Pour in the whisked egg and scramble it, mixing it into the rice. Stir in peas and corn, then return the turkey to the pan and cook until it reaches 165°F. Finally, drizzle in low-sodium soy sauce, stir everything together, and adjust seasoning as needed.

Tips & Tricks for the Best Turkey Fried Rice

  • Use Day-Old Rice – Cold rice fries up better and absorbs flavors more evenly.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pan – Giving ingredients space helps them brown rather than steam.
  • Adjust the Veggies – Swap out corn and peas for carrots, bell peppers, or mushrooms.
  • Boost the Flavor – Add a splash of sesame oil or a sprinkle of green onions before serving.
  • Make it Spicy – Stir in a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha for heat.

What to Serve with Turkey Fried Rice

This dish is hearty on its own, but you can round out the meal with:

  • Cucumber Salad – A refreshing side to balance the flavors.
  • Egg Drop Soup – A light and comforting addition.
  • Steamed Broccoli – Adds extra fiber and nutrients.
  • Spring Rolls – A crispy appetizer to complement the fried rice.

Leftovers & Storage

This fried rice keeps well. Here’s what to do:

  • Refrigeration – Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing – Portion into containers and freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheating – Warm in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or soy sauce to refresh the flavors.

Equipment You’ll Need

  • Skillet – A large pan for sautéing and stir-frying.
  • Spatula – Helps mix and scramble the ingredients evenly.
  • Cutting Board & Knife – For prepping the turkey and vegetables.
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons – To ensure the right balance of flavors.
