Ingredients for a Single Serving Potato and Asparagus Quiche

As we mentioned, quiche is a classic dish enjoyed as a meal on its own or as a side dish. This combination of potatoes and asparagus is one of our favorites. Here are the ingredients you’ll need for a single serving:

  • ¾ cup baby red potatoes diced
  • ¾ cup asparagus trimmed and chopped
  • ½ cup sliced onions
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ½ cup shredded Swiss cheese

To make a larger quiche, simply multiply the ingredient quantities according to the number of servings desired.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Making the Quiche Crust

  1. Heat oven to 400°F (200 degrees C).
  2. Toss potatoes, asparagus, onions, thyme, and salt and pepper in a medium bowl.
  3. Spread vegetables on a baking sheet and roast until tender, about 15-17 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (177°C). Whisk together eggs and cream in a bowl.
  5. Stir in the cheese and then the roasted vegetables.
  6. Pour quiche into lightly greased 5-inch baking dish or dish of a similar size.
  7. Bake 25 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned. Let quiche set 5 minutes before serving.

Tips and Variations for the Perfect Quiche

– For added flavor, sauté the sliced potatoes and asparagus in a bit of butter or olive oil until they are slightly softened before adding them to the quiche.

– Experiment with different cheeses to find your favorite combination. Gruyere, cheddar, and Swiss are all excellent choices.

– Add a handful of fresh herbs, such as chopped chives or parsley, to the egg mixture for an extra pop of freshness.

– If you prefer a crustless quiche or want to make the recipe gluten-free, simply skip the crust and pour the filling directly into a greased pie dish or individual ramekins.

Serving Suggestions and Accompaniments

Serve the Potato and Asparagus Quiche warm or at room temperature. It pairs well with a variety of side dishes and accompaniments. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

– A fresh green salad with a tangy vinaigrette dressing

– Roasted cherry tomatoes or sautéed mushrooms

– Crusty bread or dinner rolls

– Fruit salad or sliced melon for a refreshing contrast

Remember to garnish your quiche with a sprinkle of fresh herbs or a dusting of grated cheese for an elegant finishing touch.
