Tips for Making Deviled Spider Eggs
Once you’ve whipped up your favorite deviled egg filling, the fun begins. Slice black olives in half for the spider bodies, then cut the other half into thin pieces for legs. A few minutes of decorating turns ordinary deviled eggs into spooky little works of art.
For an extra pop, serve them on a dark platter or scatter a few plastic spiders around the tray for decoration. If you’re traveling to a party, use small lidded containers to keep them safe. I found mini plastic cups at the dollar store that worked perfectly – easy to transport and no smashed spiders!
Halloween Party Fun
I made these for my nieces and nephews one Halloween, and they were a total hit. A few of the kids thought the spiders were real at first – until I popped one in my mouth! After that, they couldn’t stop giggling (and eating). These Deviled Spider Eggs truly combine the best of Halloween: a little trick and a whole lot of treat.

Deviled Spider Eggs
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 7 –8 black olives
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place eggs in a pan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook for 5–7 minutes.
- While the eggs cook, slice black olives in half lengthwise (end to end, not across). Keep one half whole for the spider body and slice the other half into thin pieces for the legs.
- Once the eggs are done, cool them in cold water, then peel carefully to keep them smooth.
- Slice eggs lengthwise and remove the yolks into a bowl.
- Add mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper to the yolks and mix until smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
- Top each with half of a black olive for the spider’s body. Arrange six olive slices around it to form the legs — three on each side.
