Skillet to toast and melt the sandwich. Spatula for flipping sandwiches evenly. Knife for chopping celery and slicing sandwiches.
- 2 cans solid white tuna in water drained
- 1 stalk celery finely chopped (50 g)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise 28 g
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 5 g
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder 1 g
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese 90 g
- 4 slices of bread thick-cut white, sourdough, or your favorite
- 2 tablespoons butter softened (28 g)
In a bowl, mix tuna, celery, mayonnaise, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until combined.
Lay out the bread slices and butter one side of each.
Place buttered side down on a skillet. Layer cheese, tuna mixture, then another slice of cheese before adding the top slice of bread (buttered side up).
Cook over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and cheese starts to melt, about 3–4 minutes per side.
Slice in half and serve warm.
- Cheddar gives a classic flavor, but Swiss or provolone work well too.
- For extra crunch, add diced pickles or red onion.
- Try it on rye or whole-grain bread for variation.
