Equipment

  • Large Skillet used to sauté the shrimp and create the garlic butter sauce
  • Tongs used to flip and handle the shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter melts and begins to bubble.
  • Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring so it does not burn.
  • Place the shrimp in a single layer in the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  • Stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter, lemon juice, and lemon zest until the butter melts into a smooth sauce.
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add a splash of white wine when adding the garlic for an extra layer of flavor.
  • This shrimp is delicious served over rice, pasta, or roasted vegetables.
  • For a lighter option, spoon the shrimp over a large salad or zucchini noodles.
  • Shrimp cook quickly, so keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking.
