Fruit Crumble Recipe

Oats, flour, brown sugar, and fragrant spices are the perfect topping for any fresh, frozen, or canned fruit.

Ingredients
  

Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of fresh frozen (thawed), or canned (drained) fruit or berry, diced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons old fashioned oats
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
  • Combine the fruit or berries, sugar, flour, cinnamon, allspice, and vanilla in a small bowl.
  • Transfer the fruit or berries to a small baking dish (5x5 or 4x6).
  • Whisk the flour, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Blend in the butter with a fork until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the topping over the fruit or berries.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until apples are soft and the topping is golden. Enjoy warm or cold.

Notes

NOTE: Crumble is a perfect dish to experiment with combinations of berries and/or fruits.
