Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados peeled and pitted
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup or honey adjust for sweetness
  • ¼ cup almond milk or milk of choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries shaved chocolate, whipped cream, or chopped nuts

Instructions

  • Blend the Base: Place the avocado, cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond milk, vanilla extract, and salt into a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed to ensure everything is well incorporated.
  • Adjust Sweetness and Texture: Taste the mousse and adjust the sweetness with additional maple syrup or honey if needed. Add more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Chill and Serve: Spoon the mousse into small serving bowls or glasses. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to set.
  • Garnish: Before serving, top with your favorite garnish, such as fresh berries, whipped cream, or shaved chocolate.

Notes

  • Avocado Tips: Use perfectly ripe avocados for the creamiest texture. Avoid overripe or underripe avocados for the best flavor.
  • Customization: For a richer taste, substitute almond milk with coconut cream.
  • Make Ahead: This mousse can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
