- 4 tablespoons butter melted
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 large egg whites
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup self-rising flour
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- Frosting or dessert sauce optional
Heat the oven to 350° F (177° C). Lightly butter a 10-ounce ramekin and set it aside.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar, egg white, and vanilla until smooth.
Stir in the self-rising flour.
Add the cream and stir until smooth.
Pour the cake batter into a greased 10-ounce ramekin and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
Cool the cake completely. To remove the cake from the ramekin, run a knife between the cake and the ramekin all the way around. Place a small saucer over the top of the cake and invert onto a plate.
Decorate as desired.
