Since writing the post about DIY Fall Leaf Roses, we’ve been asked how to preserve them. There are quite a few ways to preserve dried leaves and flowers. We’ve listed some of these ways below so you can choose what you like best. If you have other ways, we would all love to hear about them!
I found these easy DIY fall leaf roses on Facebook but the person who posted it was not the girl who created it, Nicole Duke. I did a Google search for Nicole Duke’s fall leaf roses and nothing came back directly about her but I LOVE this idea and had to share with you! It reminds me of the flowers my mom showed me how to make when I was a kid using leaves. I can picture these as a table centerpiece for Thanksgiving or a wedding. It’s a great autumn decoration. My family had a fun time using the fall leaves for roses and we are sure you will too!
This sister got to meet Kathie Lee Gifford today in Nashua, NH! I still can’t believe it was possible! She is making the rounds to promote her new wine, GIFFT, and was appearing at the New Hampshire Liquor Store. My boyfriend and I are always looking for new things to do because we write the blog, Wayward Wanderers, and love to try new things. I’m so happy he found this opportunity in the paper yesterday! Tomatoes don’t speed up their ripening for the cold weather. Yes, you can pick tomatoes and put them in a cardboard box or paper bag to ripen quickly but what about the ones that don’t ripen? I’ve never tried fried green tomatoes but every fall I am reminded of them. One of our Dad’s favorite movies was Fried Green Tomatoes (Widescreen Collector’s Edition). In fact, it seemed every time I went to visit him, he was watching that movie. He said he never tried fried green tomatoes. I wish now I had made them for him. He would have loved them! So this easy Fried Green Tomato recipe, I dedicate to Dad.
Pumpkin Seeds are one of the best parts of Halloween! There’s nothing like slow roasting pumpkin seeds on a cool crisp October day while the family carves their pumpkins and decorate for the Fall. Below is my recipe for how to roast pumpkin seeds:
1. Select a pumpkin.
Remove the insides (pulp and seeds). Creating a jack-o-lantern is optional but a lot of fun!
I made this easy Mexican Spaghetti Squash recipe for my family, and they went nuts for it. I actually had to go buy more squash to do it again! The kidney beans make it seem like a meat dish while the zesty sauce adds a lot of flavor to it. It’s a healthy recipe but has the comforts of a hearty meal we crave in the cooler months.
I have had eczema off and on for 20 years. Sometimes it is a tiny little spot that lasts a few days and others it is a few more spots. I’ve never had hand eczema as bad as this last time though! Wow, it has taken over a month for any relief. I’ve tried the steroids doctors give for eczema, over the counter creams that normally work, and nothing would touch this… until I tried Aloe Vera! I strongly feel that Aloe Vera for eczema is the best natural remedy. It’s done wonders in curing my hand eczema!
It’s harvest time in the garden. Here’s one idea for using up the bounty: a healthy, fairly fast, colorful Garden Vegetable Omelette! I LOVE fresh veggies, but they can be a bit overwhelming at times….
We are excited about the upcoming months here at Sisters Know Best! We have taken a little time off to work on our personal blogs: Wayward Wanderers and Emily’s Quilting. If you get a chance, have a look!
