How To Make a Cheese Ball Igloo

Cheese Ball Igloo

Cheese Ball IglooIt’s not very often people search for “How To Make a Cheese Ball Igloo”. And it’s doubtful they’ll search for cream cheese and black olive penguins, but this is the cutest winter food idea.

We decided to do this for game night at our house and it was a big hit! It just so happened we had a snowstorm the same day.  So the wintery theme of this project tied together perfect! This is an easy food project and suitable for all ages to help create.

Cheese Ball Ingredients:

  • 16 oz. Cream Cheese (Will use some of the cream cheese from the Cream Cheese and Olive Penguins to cover igloo later)
  • 2 Cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 4 Tbsp Crumbled Feta Cheese
  • 1/2 Tbsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Crumbled Bacon – Bacon bits are a better result

How to Make Cheese Ball Igloo for PenguinsDirections:

Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix together by hand.  We recommend these mixing bowls as they nest and come with covers.

Note: If you were making a traditional cheese ball, you would save out the bacon and roll the ball in it at the end. Because you are making an igloo and want it to be white, mix it all together. Don’t worry, here are the steps to make cream cheese and black olive penguins

Once ingredients are mixed well, spray a small, rounded bowl with pan spray or line with plastic wrap.  Think:  Igloo!
Press mixture in to the bowl, flattening the top (which will be the base once hardened).
Refrigerate for 2 hours.

After 2 hours, remove your igloo from the bowl by flipping it over so the flat surface is flush against your serving dish and the rounded part is on top.  We like this serving tray because it’s white (like snow…) and the shallow sides keep your dipping items from fall off the edge.
Slice 1/4 off one side.
Slice this section in half.
Turn and position against the cut side to form a door. I forgot the roof part of the entrance of the igloo but there should be enough from the cut-off section to do this.
Next take cream cheese mixture from the Cream Cheese and Olive Penguins and spread over the top of the cheese ball in a thick layer to make it completely white.
Use a toothpick to draw lines on the igloo to look like ice blocks.

You are finished!
